Jodhpur Tourism

Jodhpur is the centrally located city of Rajasthan worked as the heart of
it as standing at the Thar Desert's edge that once was the castle of ancient
kingdom of Marwar. The Jodhpur, the 2nd largest city, has scenery occupied
by the gigantic fort of Meherangarh capping a fine rocky crest. The old
city of Jodhpur is surrounded by thick wall of stone and has 6 gigantic
gateways named as Nagauri, Merati, Sojati, Jalori, Siwanchi gates &
Chand pol. The new Jodhpur city is located outer-surface of walled city.
Jodhpur is one of the most attractive and fascinating destination amongst
tourist across the world as it features some most of beautiful forts,
palaces and temples discretely from its inviting desert scenery. The city
is also referred as "Sun City," sometimes as "Blue City"
too. It is center of the India, which offers enchanting sunny weather
throughout the year that can be pleasurable experience while visiting
through its expedient connectivity with major cities and metros of India.
The kindness of the city never allows you to make other destinations of
India as your preferred choice to spend vacations.
Rao Jodha, a Rathore clan, had founded the Jodhpur in the year of 1459
and Jodhpur has got its name after him only. The Rathores enjoyed the
city having best relations with the emperors of Mughals till the time
- Maharaja Jaswant Singh had not supported the absolute battle wi

th Shah
Jahan in the year 1678. During the rule of Umed Singh Maharaja, it has
taken a conversion as the delicate city with modern outlook and the international
sport called Polo had taken its existence as traditional Jodhpur sport
after this era.
There are two stations of railways the Jodhpur have, one is named as
City and the another named as Rai Ka Bagh, although both are located outside
of the walled city but easily accessible through local transport with
a very short drive. Just outside the Rai ka Bagh railway station, there
is a bus stand, which is very close to the High Court of Jodhpur. Jodhpur
has a number of budgets and luxury hotels that caters all needs of the
Jodhpur visitors.
Places of Interest
Mehrangarh Fort
The most magnificent Mehrangarh Fort of Jodhpur is one of the largest fort
located on the hilltop, is also one of the most favorable tourist place
in India. In 1459, Rao Jodha had founded the fort when he had planned to
change his capital from the city of Mandore as it is easily reachable with
a distance of 5km via circular road from the city of Jodhpur. This fort
has been built by the informal patterns of its own features of architecture,
superb stained windows of glass along with other distinct features. Inside
the fort there are many buildings that displayed the preserved range of
musical apparatus, furniture, cannons on the ramparts of the fort. To enter
the fort one need to pass by seven gates that include Jaya Pol, which means
victory, and it was built by the Maharaja Man Singh to honor his success
over the armies of Jaipur & Bikaner.
Umaid Bhawan Palace
Umaid Bhawan palace, one of the last construction of Royals, situated at the city of Jodhpur that was originally recognized as the Chittar Palace as because it is located on the highest point of Jodhpur - the hill of Chittar. It is the last constructed India's Palace that built with a focus to provide work and relief to poor people from drought. Presently, the Jodhpur Maharaja Gaj Singh is the owner of this Palace and he has separated his palace into three-pragmatic divisions out of which one has small museum that exhibits painting, swords, arms and other existing articles of royal heritage. The other two parts has 5-star hotel and the residence of royal family. The palace museum can be visited during the weekdays between 10am to 4pm.
