Pushkar is the most important religious place for Hindus, which is located
11km away from Ajmer, Rajasthan. The small pushkar town is well known for
its fair named as "Pushkar Fair." During the entire fair of 6
days the camel trading takes place. Other popular places of Pushkar are
picturesque lake and Lord Brahma Temple.
Pushkar is the only place that is most important amongst pilgrimages,
where the large number of devotees visits from all over the nation. This
small town is also famous worldwide for its cattle trading when millions
of devotees gathered to fetch a holy lake's dip. People believe that the
Pushkar's - the holy lake water is blessed and the custom of taking holy
dips in Pushkar lake believed to donate salvation. On the water of this
holy lake, it is the ritual to float the pattals - leaves plates with
lighted lamps.
The camel race is the most attracting phenomenon that takes place during
this fair along with auction of cattle and exhibiting colorful and beautiful
shops of handicrafts, which add life in to the Pushkar fair. Near about
all people try to tune up their setting with the locals so that they can
take maximum advantage of this Pushkar fair.
During the Pushkar fair, it is very hard to drive around in the town
due to large gathering of devotees and visitors. All you need to hire
a camel or you have to walk, to reach the rural bazaar for purchasing
the goods sold throughout the fair.
The most important aspect of this holy fair is, this place is fully prohibited
for non-vegetarian foods and alcohol especially during the fair period.

Pushkar Fair
The camel fair of pushkar is the biggest fair in India and known as only
fair of its genus worldwide. Million of people visit this fair from rural
India for selling their live stocks and for dealing of horses for several
days by hauling their cattle and camels. The fair of pushkar has its self-determined
magic that had spread all over and it is very prominent in offering one
of its experiences to all visitors and travelers. A number of travel shows,
magazines and even films have covered this fair in their cameras.
Brahma Temple
The Brahma temple, located at Pushkar is the India's only temple that is
dedicated to universe creator and has a great importance among the people
throughout India. Millions of devotees visit this temple each year to plead
before the Lord Brahma. The temple of Lord Brahma was built in the late
14th century with an embedded sitting turtle of silver color on the floor
of the temple, which is facing towards the sanctorum.
